“The Undercity” Discovered

If you’ve heard rumors about a wide network of tunnels beneath our beloved Barbitura, those rumors are true. Scientists have discovered not only a network of tunnels but an entire city beneath our own. It’s inhabited by people who don’t believe in our way of life or our fearless leader, Steve Herbinson.

What happened?

Following the recent discovery of the rebel living beneath the city, known as Roxy R., scientists and police officers began digging further and discovered something far bigger. They discovered an entire city with a lot of people living there. They call themselves “Rats”, because, like rats, they believe they are impeccable at surviving the worst of conditions.

Community

These Rats have built their own little community, existing of people who don’t believe in ‘the Ascension’. They think we are merely killing our citizens and that the brain cloud is all a lie. Despite their different believes, they still value hard work. This shows in the city they’ve made without technology or help from robots. At night, they go topside to gather supplies or to recruit more people, but apart from that they don’t show their faces outside. They have managed to grow certain vegetables that don’t need sunlight and sustain their food supply.

Punishment

A few members of the Undercity have been apprehended by the police force, including their leader, Roxy R. Although the fate of these individuals is uncertain, Roxy R. is expected to face a harsher punishment than the others, as she has managed to escape the brain cloud for over 10 years. The other apprehended citizens will probably have the chance to reintegrate into society under strict conditions. If they refuse, many people fear that they will be banished. A verdict will be issued next week by the council.
